
Donald Campbell Dewar (21 August 1937 – 11
October 2000) was a Scottish politician, and the first holder of the
office of First Minister of Scotland, following the establishment of
the Scottish Parliament. His tenure as First Minister lasted from May
1999 until his sudden death in October 2000. Throughout his career,
he was a member of the Scottish Labour Party; the Scottish division
of the British Labour Party.
